Hemingway To Become A STEAM School
Hemingway is on the road to becoming a STEAM school.
Staff at Hemingway are excited about the shift toward becoming a STEAM school. STEAM is a shift in teaching philosophy where there is an intentional integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math that is infused into lesson planning and teaching across the curriculum. Teaching becomes more about bringing real world problem solving into integrated projects that engage students through cooperative learning, collaboration and hands on research and design. In getting our school up to STEAM, we have many staff members that have attended national STEM conferences sponsored by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and all staff recently received 3 days of professional development in the area of implementing STEAM into our teaching practices. Our next step will be to go deeply into our curriculum and realign our units of instruction to align with the integrated approach to STEAM teaching and learning.
