The Blaine County School District's schools and offices will be closed for Spring Break from March 20, 2017 through March 24, 2017. Schools resume and offices will be open on Monday, March 27, 2017.
2017 Trustee Elections
In accordance with Idaho Code 33-503, the Board of Trustees of School District No. 61 shall conduct its Annual Trustee Election on May 16, 2017, for the purpose of electing trustees for Trustee Zone No. 2 and Trustee Zone No. 4.
Individuals interested in running in one of the upcoming trustee elections should complete the Declaration of Candidacy for School Trustee and Petition for Candidacy by the March 17, 2017 filing deadline. Completed documents should be submitted to Board Clerk Amanda LaChance by 5:00 p.m. on March 17, 2017 at 118 W. Bullion St. Hailey, Idaho.
Individuals running in the 2017 trustee election must now file campaign finance disclosures with the County Clerk's office. Individuals running for office must appoint a Political Treasurer prior to or at the time of his or her declaration of candidacy. The individual running for office may also act as the political treasurer. All candidates must submit the Campaign Financial Disclosure Report Summary Page to the County Clerk's office in accordance with Idaho Code timelines even if he or she does not spend or collect funds during the election.

Zone 2: Includes areas East of Highway 75, North of Muldoon Canyon Rd and South/East of Quigley and Fox Acres Roads (includes Woodside Subdivision; excludes Deerfield, Bellevue City); Includes areas North of Highway 20 and West of Highway 75 (excluding Bellevue City), Bend of the River Ranch, West of the Big Wood River to Colorado Gulch Rd, South of Colorado Gulch Rd/Croy Creek Rd/Camp Creek Rd.
Zone 4: Includes East of Big Wood River, North of Deer Creek Rd.; North of West Meadow Dr to Buttercup, West of Buttercup to Highway 75, West of Highway 75 to Ketchum, West of Trail Creek to rejoin Highway 75 near Big Wood Golf course, North to County Line.

Only eligible voters whose permanent residence is within the boundaries of the particular trustee zone position up for election, whether living in the city limits or in the county portion of that trustee zone, may vote for that trustee candidate(s). No other patrons living outside of the zone up for election may vote.
The Board of Trustees for the Blaine County School District has five dedicated members elected for a four-year term from five separate zones that represent the communities of the Wood River Valley.

It is the policy of the Board of Trustees to distinguish between those activities which are appropriate to the Board of Trustees as the legislative governing body of the School District, and those administrative activities which are to be performed by the Superintendent of Schools and district staff in the exercise of delegated administrative authority. The function of the Board can be described as policy-making, appraisal, and evaluation.
The Board of Trustees shall have the further duty of providing the financial means by which the educational program is conducted. They shall also ensure that the community be informed of the needs, purposes, values, and status of the schools.
